On a mission from God
On November 22nd, 2013 Volunteer Members from the CrossFit Pleasanton (CFP) Softball Team will travel to Baja Mexico with new and used baseball gear to be given as Christmas gifts to the poorest of the poor kids in the region. These kids would not otherwise receive Christmas gifts. The kids love the game but play with sticks and bare hands.
The amount of gear we deliver to the El Oasis orphanage and the disadvantaged kids of Rosarito Mexico will depend on the support we receive.
On Saturday, November 23rd, Members of CFP Softball team will help build a baseball feild at El Oasis Orphanage and then teach the kids how to play the game of baseball.
On Sunday, November 24th, the CFP team will then deliver baseball gear to the nuns in Rosarito Mexico. The nuns regularly help the poorest children in the region and know how to get the equipment into the hands of the kids that need it.
Sunday afternoon, the CFP team has been challenged to a legit game of hardball against the Rosarito regional baseball team.
This fundraiser is for my crazy
grandmother. She does a lot of work with the poor in Mexico. She sees
the kids that get nothing for Christmas. She sees them trying to play
baseball in the dirt with a stick and a taped up something or other.
Her fund raising idea was to sew and
sell ugly little $3 stress dolls that people could throw against the wall when
they were angry. “Grandma”, I said, “In this day and age that
would take forever and get us nowhere. I’ve got a better idea.” So I’m calling
on the big-hearted baseball fans in the area to donate cash and gear. Please
donate here or drop new or used baseball/softball gear at CrossFit Pleasanton:
