Teams of 2 row 5k. A team mate sprints a 500m row and then does 20 push-ups. The other team mate can not start his 500m row sprint until his team member has finished the 20 push ups. This continues until 5k has been rowed and the last 20 push-ups are completed.

Saturday was a 1/2 mile “couples” prowler push with 95#’s

Sunday was Fran. Kyle showed up and nailed Fran in 3:03. DAMN.

CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification – Pleasanton

Crossfit Pleasanton hosts a CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification on April 10th & 11th of 2010.  These certifications sell out quick.

Start and end time: 9 am to 5 pm each day with a 1 hour lunch break.

Josh has been the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of California Riverside since 2001. Prior to that he served as an Assistant Strength Coach at UCLA & Ohio University. Josh is a competitive weightlifter who has trained under the tutelage of Crossfit Coach Mike Burgener since 1999. During this time Josh has qualified for and competed in 3 U.S. National championship meets placing as high as 9th place in the 85k weight class. In addition to his Collegiate coaching and competitive weightlifting Josh is also deeply involved in the CrossFit community. He serves frequently as an instructor at Crossfit level 1 certs and as a CrossFit athlete has twice finished in the top 3 at the CrossFit Games.

Stephane Rochet has spent 10 years learning the Olympic lifts from Coach Burgener.  Rochet is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of San Diego, where he oversees the strength training of 450 student-athletes in a high level collegiate program.  The lessons learned at “Mike’s Gym” are passed on to these elite athletes every day, with outstanding results.

Shane competed in the sport of weightlifting from 1996 – 2005. He won all 9 national championships and competed in 2 Olympics (2000, 2004). Shane holds all of the American records in the 105+ weight class as well as 3 world records in the sport of powerlifting including a 1008 pound squat. Shane is the weightlifting coach for CrossFit OKC and has a passion for teaching the Olympic lifts.

CrossFit Pleasanton will also be administering this workout to the Fremont police Department today.  Paul from Re-Active gym will also sign up Fremont Police employees for Fitness Assessments as part of a Risk Management program through the City of Fremont.  This will be a proactive appraoch to injury prevention with exercise and awareness.

Amador Summer 09 XC Program Sheds Fat and Increases Muscle

This summer we had 24 kids from the Amador High School Cross Country team participate in Off-Season General Strength and Conditioning at Re-Active Gym.

On average the boys gained 4 ¼ pounds, increased muscle mass by 6.2#’s, lost 2 pounds of fat, decreased fat% by 1.75% and increased their health score as compared to the average American by 7.75 points.

On average, the girls lost 1.2 pounds, increased muscle mass by 2.15 pounds, lost 3.34 pounds of fat, decreased fat% by 2.32% and increased their health score as compared to the average American by 10.4 points.

Awesome!   Less Fat, More muscle= Leaner, Meaner, Running Machiners.  Good work kids!
