HOW TO GET STARTED AT CROSSFIT PLEASANTON
STUDENT CONSULTATION/INTRO TO CROSSFIT
Once you’ve decided you want to get into the best shape of your life and be a part of a community of like-minded people, it’s time to book a Student Consultation/Intro to CrossFit.
Do it alone or bring a friend along to your 60-minute free intro session that explains the CrossFit methodology and evaluates your current level of fitness. More specifically, you will become acquainted with our application of the CrossFit method.
Once this is complete you can move on to one of the two Rolling Start option. These sessions will teach you CrossFit and get you in to regular classes. Private and Group Rolling Start are available. We strongly suggest every person go through the Private Rolling Start for many reason but we understand that it is not for everyone.
Private Rolling Start
If you have already tried our free class or just know you want to jump right into starting with us, our Rolling Start program is where you’ll begin!
You will start off by completing 6 one-on-one or one-on-two private coaching sessions, where you will be coached by an instructor. Our instructors are some of the best CrossFit coaches who brought CrossFit to the Tri-Valley 10 years ago; their experience is second to none.
During your 6 private coaching sessions you will become familiar with the CrossFit movements (30-40 movements), things like Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, gymnastics and rowing. You will also learn about mobility, injury prevention and nutrition.
The purpose of private coaching rather than group sessions:
First, CrossFit is technical – it’s like learning an entirely new sport – so the same way you wouldn’t throw someone off the street onto the Varsity swimming team, we don’t throw people who have never done clean and jerks, snatches, pull ups, or rope climbs right into the intimidating fire of group classes. Instead, we take the time to properly teach you the movements so you’re confident and safe in your abilities by the time you begin group classes.
Second, one-on-one private coaching allows us to address your individual needs, deficiencies, weaknesses and injuries. Everybody needs to work at a different pace, and we want to keep you injury-free to increase your longevity.
Third, we believe relationships with the people around you are going to enrich your life, and your relationship with your coach is no exception. We want to get to know you, your fitness goals, what’s going on in your life, and what you need from us to help you succeed.
Sport or weightlifting in your background?
If you have an athletic background from high school, college or other affiliation then we also have a 4 sessions rolling start. This cuts Intro time and cost down for you. We still need to cover the CrossFit Specific movements so 4 sessions are needed for all clients.

After your Rolling Start Sessions are complete, you will then be able to attend regular group classes.

Group Rolling Start
We do recommend for everyone to do the one on one Personal Rolling Start outlined in Step 2 but we understand that it is not for everyone. It could be a cost issue or you would much rather be in a group setting. What ever the reason we are here to accommodate you and make your introduction to CrossFit a great experience.
Our Group Rolling Start consists of 8 semi-private training sessions to give you a working knowledge of the basic movements in CrossFit. Our Rolling Start program is designed to expose and teach you most of what you will experience when you go to your first group class. Finishing this program will make you will feel comfortable and prepared. We emphasize correct technique and safety first, get you familiar with CrossFit terminology, teach you proper technique in all the movements and get you moving and sweating.
Group Rolling Start sessions will be started every two weeks, with classes meeting on Tuesday, Thursday, at 10:30am or 5:30pm, Friday at 10:30am and Saturday at 11:30 am . Classes build off of the previous ones so we strongly encourage starting on the first session and completing all 8. Your instructor will teach you the day’s movements and end with a short WOD (Workout Of the Day) that uses some of the movements that you just learned.
The cost for Rolling Start classes is only $139 for all 8 sessions, and also includes the rest of the month’s membership to our regular CrossFit Classes
*All students have one month to finish their 8 sessions.
**All 8 sessions much be completed before going into regular group classes!
Once you have completed one of the Rolling Start options, and the coach feels you are ready and have reach our graduation requirements, you are free to begin group classes.
During group classes, you’ll push yourself and sweat it out with like-minded individuals, as you compete with yourself (and others, if you choose) for rounds, time, points, glory, emotional satisfaction and spiritual growth. You will reach new physical and emotional levels you didn’t think were possible, and you will undoubtedly find yourself with a new social and support network, who will help you on your continued path to greater health and happiness.
Coaches will be present at each class. We offer a large amount of daily classes so that there is always a good student to coach ratio. This ensures you will continue to receive technical coaching as your CrossFit and fitness abilities improve.
