Wow, what an awesome weekend. Josh Everett came into town to run the CrossFit Olympic lifting certification. One of the best things about this certification is that there was no filler. Like mother birds with worms, Josh and his crew constantly crammed high value material down our gullets. CrossFit Pleasanton rented 40 chairs and we were told to leave them folded in the corner. For eight hours each day all of the enthusiastic participants drilled the lifts over and over. When they were not drilling, they were teaching or watching a demonstration. Sunday morning you could here people whispering, “That PVC pipe really kicked my ass yesterday!”
Josh Everett was a true professional. If you didn’t know anything about him, you wouldn’t know what a beast he is. At about 185 pounds, he has snatched 270 pounds. Check out his 2009 CrossFit Game’s profile. He will also be competing at the Southwest CrossFit Regional qualifier for the CrossFit Games in LA in a couple weeks. He brought with him Austin from CrossFit Unlimited. I heard Josh call him the CrossFit Yoda. He was full of great advice and delivered it to the attendees in a way that only a seasoned coach can: “Good lifter you will become.” Lee from Brethren CrossFit also helped instruct. I have seen him around at various events and he always has great positive energy and constructive advice.
Anyone who wants to raise their game or learn how to teach the Olympic lifts would greatly benefit from this weekend certification.
